From 72 Films, producers of NatGeo’s Emmy-winning “9/11: One Day In America”, comes another entry into this returnable franchise. On the 22nd November 1963, the President of the United States of America, John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Now, for the 60th anniversary, this series takes us into the day almost in real time. Across three episodes what unfolds is: a presidential assassination, a full-scale manhunt, a murder of a policeman, and then the killing of the assassin. 72 Films will forensically research hundreds of hours of footage to uncover rarely seen film and audio archive, as well as find the people in it.
They will create an intensely immersive viewing experience, letting the audience live in the moment – from being inside the Dallas Police station, inside the hospital, to joining the hunt for Oswald. Events will be captured as they unfold with narration-free storytelling and emotional present-tense testimony from people like the assassin’s wife, the detective on the case, and the man arrested as an accomplice.
Characters will be connected with one another to achieve a cohesive grand narrative that helps viewers understand what happens when ordinary people become part of history – giving insight into the multiple perspectives of a day in a brand-new way that will cut through the clutter and appeal to audiences around the world on the 60th anniversary of the assassination of JFK.
Sunday at 21:00 from 5 November (Premiere Double-bill, ends 6 November)
